Silver Grey Rubio Monocoat in Chicago
Recently we were called in to sand and finish a floor in a brand new complex in Chicago. The client wanted to use Rubio Monocoat, but the company installing the floors didn’t have experience with the product. So they got in touch with us here at Tadas Wood Flooring.
The other hardwood floor business in Chicago did a wonderful job with the install, which made the project much easier for us. Once the installation of the wide plank Red Oak was finished, we got stuck into sanding and finishing it.
The color that was eventually decided on was Rubio Monocoat Silver Grey. We have another hardwax oil project we posted about where we used this color as well (Silver Grey Fumed), but this time we didn’t use the fuming process on the floors.
So now you get to see the Silver Grey color in its natural state.
Below are some pictures of the finished job…
The living room floors are above and you can see the floors in the bedroom below…
Here’s the kitchen and dining area…
Another shot of the kitchen…
Here’s the living room facing the other direction…
And a photo from another angle so you can see how it looks in the sunlight…

Here are the stairs…
And a low angle close up shot across the floor…
And thankfully not too close up…
We really like the look of this hardwood floor. Silver Grey is turning out to be one of the most popular colors from the vast Rubio Monocoat color collection.
If you’d like to do something similar to your wood floors, get in touch with us and we’ll be more than happy to discuss your options.

What type of wood is the Silver Gray Rubio MC in Chicago?
Hi Bob,
They’re red oak.

Hi Tadas,
The floors look great! We are considering White Monocoat finish for our flooring project.
Based on your experience, do you know if the Monocoat finish has *any* sheen / luster at all or is completely flat? The pics above suggest a slight sheen ..?
Thanks!
Hi Sundeep,
It’s a pretty flat finish.
The light coming in from the windows make the sheen look a bit different than in real life. The sheen in the stair picture is more realistic.
I’d definitely suggest seeing a sample before committing.
